Car Lift Column Construction

There are many different types of car lifts, including single-column car lifts, double-column car lifts, four-column car lifts, scissor car lifts, and trench car lifts. Here are some answers.

Here is the content list:

l Single column Car lift

l Two-post Car lift

l Four-pillar Car lift

Single column Car lift

The single-column car lift is the special equipment for lifting cars and other vehicles parked on the ground to a certain height for maintenance, it is a typical machine used for a partial lifting of cars and engineering vehicles to change wheels and tires or carry out various maintenance operations on the vehicle chassis. The single-column car lift is easy to operate, beautiful, and does not take up much space to lift heavy objects easily and effortlessly. It is an indispensable tool for car repair, as it saves time and effort and is placed completely on the ground when not in use, making it convenient for reversing and placing objects. The single-column car lift is available in two types: mobile and fixed. The single-column mobile car lift is suitable for indoor and outdoor areas, while the single-column fixed car lift is suitable for compact indoor areas.

Two-post car lift

The two-post car lift is a special mechanical lift commonly used by car repair and maintenance units for the repair and maintenance of small vehicles such as cars. It saves a lot of floor space while lifting the car in the air, making it easier to work on the ground. However, to maximize material savings, the two-post car lift usually has no base plate. The absence of a base plate makes it necessary for the torsional forces of the column to be counteracted by the ground and therefore requires a high level of foundation, which would be counteracted by the crossbeam (gantry car lift) if it were available.

There are two types of double-column car lifts, symmetrical and asymmetrical. The symmetrical car lift has four arms of approximately equal length so that the center of the car is in the middle of the column. This symmetrical car lift is probably the best choice for routine maintenance on types of the cars such as pick-ups and box vans. However, for some symmetrical two-post car lifts where the width between the posts is not large enough, the inability to open the doors after the car has been lifted is a major disadvantage. In an asymmetrical car lift, the columns are rotated backward at an angle and the front arms are slightly shorter than the rear arms. When the car is parked in the proper position in this asymmetrical car lift, the car is moved back a little and we can therefore easily enter and exit through the doors. Furthermore, the pivoting columns of this asymmetric Car lift ensure that the vehicle's center of gravity is safely positioned between the columns.

Four-pillar Car lift

The four-post car lift is a special mechanical lift commonly used by large tonnage car or truck repair and maintenance units. The four-post car lift is also very suitable for four-wheel alignment, as the four-post car lift generally has a four-wheel alignment gear that can be adjusted to ensure leveling. According to its structure, the four-post car lift is divided into two types: the upper cylinder type and the lower cylinder type. The upper cylinder type is placed on top of the column (with crossbeam), while the lower cylinder type is placed under the flat plate. The upper cylinder type four-post car lift mainly relies on four chains to pull up the four corners and the tension cylinder is placed at the top, this structure is simple, but the self-weight increases. Most of the upper cylinder type four-post car lifts are manual or pneumatic, the mechanic needs to run to the bottom to operate, which is inconvenient and unsafe for the user who often uses the second lift. The safety device is pneumatic, if there is no air source, it is more troublesome. The lower cylinder four-column scissor car lift mainly relies on four thick steel cables to pull up the four corners, the tension cylinder is placed under the flat plate and the force is conveyed to all four sides through six discs. This structure is more compact and has a lower self-weight. Secondary lift is generally electro-hydraulic, and the main pump is connected, just turn the conversion valve can be, lifting speed is fast, the insurance device for the wedge type, four wedges using the tie bar linkage, pull the lever can open the insurance device, convenient and durable.
