How To Use A Tire Changer

A tire changer is a piece of necessary maintenance equipment for 4s shops, auto repair shops, and tire shops. Here's how to use the tire changer in more detail.

Here is the content list:

  Control method

  Tire disassembly method

  Tire assembly method

Control method

Press the second pedal on the left side of the tire changer and release it when you hear the sound of "click". Hold your claws still. Repeat. Move the claw inward. Repeat. Move the claw outward. Return to the original position. Pull open the flange disconnecting arm, step down the second foot pedal on the right, and keep stepping on it. The big cylinder drives the wheel step disconnecting arm to move ineffectually to the inside, and the tire is separated from the steel ring by the pressure of the flange disconnecting plate on the tire. Release the pedal and the large cylinder returns to its initial position. Step down, first foot pedal, table clockwise rotation. On the contrary, lift the foot pedal, counterclockwise rotation of the table. Turn the locking handle downward to release both the vertical and horizontal axes. Conversely, push the locking handle upward to lock the vertical and horizontal axes at the same time.

Tire disassembly method

First, let the air out of the tire you want to remove. The tire is stitched to the underwire by pressing the flange release plate. Place the tire on the work table of the tire changer to hold or clamp, adjust the position between the dismounting head and the tire, and then lock it. Apply lubricant to the tire and rim. Pry the edge of the tire to the disassembly head with a crowbar, the crowbar does not pull out, at this time, make the workbench clockwise rotation, and you can remove the tire. The tire on the other side can be removed in the same way. When installing the tire, press the edge of the tire with the dismantling head and make the table rotate clockwise (still coated with lubricant). The other side of the tire can be installed in the same way. When inflating the tire, the inflating pressure can be read by the inflating meter.

Tire assembly method

Preparation: Raw materials such as rubber, fabric, and steel are prepared for use in the tire assembly process. These materials are inspected and tested to ensure they meet quality standards.

Building the Inner Liner: The inner liner is typically made of a rubber compound that provides an airtight barrier. It's applied to the tire-building drum and serves as the base layer for the tire.

Applying the Belts and Ply Layers: Steel belts and fabric ply layers are applied over the inner liner. These layers provide strength, stability, and flexibility to the tire. The number of ply layers and belts can vary based on the tire's design and intended use.

Adding Beads and Bead Wire: Beads are steel wires encased in rubber that give the tire structure and help it stay seated on the wheel rim. Bead wires are added and anchored securely to the edges of the tire.

Applying Sidewalls and Tread: Sidewalls, which provide protection to the tire's structure and have branding information, are applied next. Then, the tread, the part of the tire that comes into direct contact with the road, is added. The tread pattern varies depending on the intended use of the tire (e.g., all-season, winter, performance, etc.).

Curing: The green tire, which is the assembled but uncured tire, is placed in a curing mold. The mold is heated and compressed, causing the tire to vulcanize and take its final shape. The heat and pressure cure the rubber and bonding materials, giving the tire its strength and durability.

Quality Control: After curing, the tire undergoes thorough quality control inspections. This can involve checks for dimensions, balance, appearance, and other performance factors.

Testing: Some tires might undergo additional testing to ensure they meet specific standards, such as load-carrying capacity, speed rating, and tread wear resistance.

Finishing: Tires are usually labeled with important information such as size, load index, speed rating, and manufacturing date. They might also receive any necessary cosmetic finishing touches.
